Fire extinguisher compliance
Service records and certificates that prove the right extinguisher is in the right place and in date — held in your client portal, for every site.

What the law requires
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires portable fire fighting equipment to be maintained and appropriate to the risk. BS 5306-3 sets the service intervals, and BS 5306-8 covers selection and siting — the right extinguisher type, in the right place, for the fire risk in that area.
What we provide
- A service tag and certificate for every extinguisher, dated to BS 5306-3
- Extended service and discharge test records at the five-year interval
- A siting record confirming type and location against BS 5306-8
- An asset register listing every extinguisher and its last service date
- A defects register with each item priced, prioritised and tracked to close-out
- Certificates and records held in your client portal, ready for an inspector or insurer
Compliance starts with the service.
These records only stay current if the extinguishers are actually serviced to schedule. See how ILUX runs fire extinguisher servicing across every site on one calendar.
What an inspector sees
If your fire extinguisher compliance sits with ILUX, an inspector or insurer is shown one register: a service date, type and location for every extinguisher, with any open defect priced and dated to close, rather than a folder built site by site.
Common questions.
How do you know the right extinguisher is in the right place?
Siting is checked against the fire risk in each area, following BS 5306-8. Where an extinguisher is the wrong type for the risk, it's flagged and swapped, not just re-tagged.
What happens at the five-year extended service?
Each extinguisher is discharge tested and refilled, going beyond the annual visual and functional checks. We schedule it automatically so it isn't missed.
Does this cover more than extinguishers?
This page covers fire extinguisher records specifically. A compliance management plan brings extinguishers together with every other statutory obligation on one register.
