Oneteam, design to maintenance

Lighting is where ILUX began.

ILUX started as ILUX Lighting, and lighting is still the trade the rest of the business grew around — a lighting specialist that now also covers the rest of a building's facilities work.

One team handles the lighting design, LED retrofit, emergency lighting and controls, working to the same standards and schedule across every site.

What you get

  • Lighting design that meets the lux levels and standards the space needs
  • LED retrofits that cut energy use without a lighting redesign
  • Emergency lighting installed to BS 5266 and handed straight into planned testing
  • Smart controls — presence, daylight and scheduling — fitted where they pay back
  • Exterior, car park and signage lighting kept working and kept legal
  • Installation scheduled out of hours so trading isn't disrupted
Energy

An LED retrofit is an energy project too.

Lighting is usually the single biggest lever on a site's electricity bill. Our LED upgrade programme pairs the retrofit with the energy contract, so the saving shows up on the invoice, not just the spec sheet.

Recent work

For Topps Tiles, ILUX replaced the fluorescent lighting in 305 stores with CRI 90+ LED battens, saving around 9.2 million kWh a year and fixing a colour-rendering problem left by an earlier upgrade. Read the Topps Tiles case study.

A store refit in Glasgow needed a two-metre oval crystal pendant that no manufacturer made. ILUX designed and built one from a single photo and installed it before the store reopened. Read the Beaverbrooks case study.

How a project starts.

Three steps from first survey to a lit, compliant site, with install work out of hours throughout.

Step 1

Survey & design

We survey the space, agree the lux levels and standards it needs, and design against them.

Step 2

Install out of hours

Installation scheduled around trading hours, site by site, so the business keeps operating.

Step 3

Verify & maintain

Commissioning checks and, where you want it, the new lighting rolled straight into planned maintenance.

Common questions.

Can you retrofit LED without a full lighting redesign?

Yes, most retrofits reuse the existing layout and fittings where they'll take an LED source. A redesign is only needed where the lux levels or layout don't suit the space as it's used today.

Do you install as well as design?

Yes, design and installation sit under the same contract, with the same team doing both, usually out of hours so sites don't lose trading time.

Can new emergency lighting go straight onto our maintenance contract?

Yes. Once it's installed and commissioned it moves onto the same testing schedule as the rest of your emergency lighting testing.

Do you cover sites outside England?

We cover the whole of the UK; see response times & coverage for how that works across regions.
