Facilities for retail estates.
Shutters that open on time, lighting that sells, and compliance evidence for every unit in the estate — on one contract, reported store by store.

What retail estates need
A retail unit's maintenance calendar runs on trading hours, not office hours. A fault gets fixed before doors open, or made safe until close, with work that can wait scheduled for the night.
Shutters and doors are the most visible risk on any unit — a jammed shutter is a closed store. Lighting is part of the offer as much as the fit-out, so a failed fitting on the shop floor isn't just a maintenance ticket.
Compliance sits across many small sites rather than one large one: the same fire alarm, emergency lighting and electrical checks, repeated dozens or hundreds of times. Where a unit is leased, landlord and tenant responsibilities split the building — we work to whichever side of that line your lease puts you on.
How ILUX works with retailers
One contract covers every store, so one call logs a fault anywhere in the estate. Planned work and reactive call-outs run to out-of-hours programmes where trade can't be interrupted, with engineers placed by region so response times hold across a spread-out estate.
Every visit and every certificate reports back by store in your client portal, so you can see the state of one unit or the whole estate at a glance.
Compliance across a store estate
Fire risk assessments under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 cover every unit, however small. Fire alarm servicing follows BS 5839-1 on a six-monthly cycle. Emergency lighting is tested and serviced to BS 5266-1.
Electrical installations are periodically inspected and tested to BS 7671, with an EICR typically every five years for commercial premises. Portable appliances are tested under PAT to a schedule set by risk and use. All of it sits on one calendar per site.
One plan, every store in date.

Common questions.
Can work be scheduled around trading hours?
Yes. Most planned work and non-urgent reactive jobs on retail units are scheduled out of hours, before opening or after close, so the shop floor isn't disrupted.
Who's responsible for compliance on a leased unit?
It depends on the lease. We work to whichever split of landlord and tenant responsibilities your agreement sets, and can cover either side or both across a mixed portfolio.
Can you handle a rollout across new store openings?
Yes. New units are surveyed and added to the estate schedule as they open, so compliance and maintenance start from day one rather than catching up later.
How fast is a call-out for a jammed shutter or shopfront fault?
Roller shutter and shopfront faults are treated as high priority given the impact on trade. Response times are agreed as part of your contract and reported against in the portal.
Can lighting and energy be managed together across the estate?
Yes. Retail lighting upgrades and multi-site energy management sit under the same contract, so lighting spend and running costs can be looked at together, store by store.
