Intruder alarm servicing
Scheduled servicing to PD 6662 / BS EN 50131, keeping systems within insurer requirements and the signal to your monitoring centre reliable.

Why it matters
Most business insurance policies require an intruder alarm to be maintained to PD 6662, which references BS EN 50131, by a competent engineer on a set interval. Falling out of service can affect both police response eligibility and cover in the event of a claim, so servicing isn't optional in practice even where it isn't set in statute.
ILUX schedules servicing to the interval your policy and system grade require, and keeps the record ready for renewal.
What's included
- Inspection of the control panel, power supplies and standby batteries
- Function test of detectors, contacts and sounders across the system
- Check of signalling to the monitoring centre where the system is monitored
- Check of the log book and any faults recorded since the last visit
- Walk test to confirm coverage matches the building layout
- Certificate of service, with defects listed, priced and prioritised
Where a fault affects signalling or a zone, we make it safe on the day and give you a fixed price to put it right.
A serviced alarm still needs someone watching it.
See how remote monitoring pairs with servicing so an activation reaches a monitoring centre and the right keyholder, not silence.
How it fits a multi-site contract
Intruder alarm servicing is usually the first security service a new client moves across, with door entry and roller shutter servicing added once the alarm schedule is in place, all on one calendar.
Common questions.
How often does the alarm need servicing?
It depends on the system grade and what your insurer's policy requires — PD 6662 / BS EN 50131 set the frequency by system grade, and monitored systems generally need more frequent servicing than bell-only ones. We confirm the interval for your policy during onboarding.
What happens if servicing lapses?
A lapsed system can affect police response and insurance cover. We flag any site approaching its due date well ahead, so servicing doesn't slip.
Do you also handle CCTV?
Where CCTV is part of the same security setup, it can be brought under the same monitoring and servicing schedule — tell us what's on site and we'll scope it in.
Every site, in date.
Send us your sites and current service dates and we'll show you what one schedule looks like.
