Why it matters

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person must keep firefighting equipment maintained in efficient working order. BS 5306-3 sets the servicing regime: a basic service every 12 months, with an extended service every five years for water, foam and powder extinguishers and every ten years for CO2 units.

ILUX tracks each unit's service and extended-service dates against the asset register, so nothing is missed and nothing is serviced early.

What's included

  • Basic annual service of every extinguisher, to BS 5306-3
  • Extended service (discharge and recharge) at 5 years for water, foam and powder units
  • Extended service at 10 years for CO2 units
  • Check of location, signage and pressure gauge condition
  • Replacement of units that fail service or reach end of serviceable life
  • Certificate of service, with the asset register and next-due dates updated

A unit found faulty is swapped on the day where stock allows, so cover is never left short between visits.

Compliance

Servicing is half of the picture.

The other half is proving each unit is in date, in the right place and matched to the fire risk assessment for that area. See how we keep the record straight for every site.

How it fits a multi-site contract

Extinguisher servicing is usually paired with the fire alarm visit, so one engineer covers both on the same trip. We fold existing service dates into a single calendar across every site you bring on.

Common questions.

Do all extinguisher types need the same servicing?

All types get a basic annual service to BS 5306-3. The extended service interval differs by type: 5 years for water, foam and powder, 10 years for CO2.

What happens to units that fail service?

They're taken out of service and replaced, either from stock on the day or on a fixed-price follow-up visit, so the site is never left without cover.

Can you audit what we've already got on site?

Yes. The first visit records every unit, its type, location and current service status, so you start from an accurate asset register rather than a guess.

Every site, in date.

Send us your sites and current service dates and we'll show you what one schedule looks like.
