Energy audits

A site-by-site audit that shows where the load actually is, and a prioritised list of measures ranked by payback rather than a generic checklist.

Why it matters

Consumption data tells you how much energy a site uses. It doesn't tell you why, or where the easy savings are. An audit walks the site, reads the plant and controls, and connects the meter reading to the equipment driving it.

ILUX audits each site in turn and rolls the findings into one estate-wide view, so a head office can see which sites and which systems are worth acting on first.

What's included

  • A physical walk-round survey of each site's electrical and mechanical plant
  • A review of lighting, HVAC, refrigeration and controls against how the site actually operates
  • Consumption data checked against the equipment on site to find where the load sits
  • A prioritised list of measures, ranked by likely payback and disruption
  • A baseline report suitable for ongoing monitoring or ESOS purposes
  • A written summary in plain terms, not a raw data dump

Some findings are quick fixes — a control left in the wrong mode, a schedule that doesn't match trading hours. Others are capital projects. The audit ranks both so you can decide what to act on and when.

Next step

An audit is a snapshot.

To see whether the measures are working, and to catch drift before the next bill, consumption needs watching between audits.

Energy monitoring

Where the load usually is

Across retail and hospitality sites, lighting, refrigeration and HVAC typically account for most of the electricity bill. Offices lean more heavily on HVAC and IT load. The audit confirms which applies at each of your sites rather than assuming.

Common questions.

How long does an audit take per site?

It depends on the size and complexity of the site, but most retail or office audits are a single visit. Larger or plant-heavy sites can take longer, and we'll say so before booking.

Do you need our historical consumption data first?

It helps but isn't essential. Where you can supply bills or half-hourly data we use it to focus the survey; where you can't, the audit starts from the site itself.

What happens with the findings?

You get a written report with measures ranked by payback. Anything you want taken forward — LED upgrades, controls, solar — moves into its own project under the same contract.
