What the law requires
The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and the COSHH Regulations 2002 require water systems to be assessed and controlled for legionella risk. The HSE's ACOP L8 and its technical guidance HSG274 set out the written scheme, monitoring and record-keeping expected of the responsible person.

Common questions.
How often does the risk assessment need reviewing?
HSG274 expects a review at least every two years, or sooner if the water system, its use, or the building changes. We track the date so a review is never missed.
Who takes the routine temperature readings?
Usually a duty holder on site, using the schedule the written scheme sets out. We supply the record and check it's being kept up.
