Why it matters
A large flat roof and a predictable daytime load are the two things that make commercial solar work, and most retail, industrial and office sites have both. Getting there means a proper feasibility study first — roof condition, structural capacity and the grid connection all decide what's possible before design starts.
ILUX runs that feasibility work site by site and takes viable installations through design, connection and build under one contract.

- System design sized against the site's actual daytime consumption
- G99 application to the distribution network operator for the grid connection
- Installation of panels, inverters and associated electrical work
- Commissioning and connection, including export arrangements where applicable

Some sites suit self-consumption only, using generated power on site as it's produced. Others have headroom to export. We set out both routes for each site before you commit to a design.

A feasibility study is more accurate when it's built on real consumption data rather than an estimate from the bill.
How it fits a multi-site contract
Solar is usually assessed across a portfolio, not one site at a time, so the sites with the best roofs and load profiles get prioritised first. Generation is then tracked through energy monitoring alongside the rest of the site's consumption.
Common questions.
How do we know if a site's roof is suitable?
The feasibility survey checks roof condition, orientation, shading and structural capacity. Not every site will qualify, and the report says so before any design work is priced.
What is a G99 connection?
It's the application process for connecting generation equipment to the local electricity network, submitted to the distribution network operator. We handle the application as part of the project.
Can we export surplus power?
Where the site and network connection allow it, yes. We set out export arrangements alongside self-consumption as part of the feasibility study.
