Structured cabling installed to BS EN 50173 gives a site a data network that's documented, tested and built to a known standard, rather than a patchwork of cable runs added over time. That matters when a site is fitted out, refitted, or simply grows past what the original cabling was sized for.

Certification and records
Every installed run is tested to the relevant category standard and the results are kept against the site's asset record, so a fault can be diagnosed against the original certification rather than guessed at.
Common questions.
Cat6 or Cat6A, which do we need?
Depends on distance and future bandwidth needs. Cat6A costs more but supports higher speeds over longer runs, so the design will recommend one based on the site rather than a blanket default.
Can cabling be added to an existing site without a full refit?
Yes. New points or a backbone upgrade can be added around live operations, usually out of hours where the site can't be disrupted during the day.
Do we get certificates for the installed cabling?
Yes, for every run installed, and they're kept against the site's asset record for future reference.
