VoIP & hosted phone systems
One hosted phone system across every site, with calls routed to the right store or helpdesk and numbers kept whichever provider sits behind them.

Why it matters
A phone system that's different at every site makes routing calls, adding a new store or reporting a fault harder than it needs to be. Hosted VoIP puts the whole estate on one system, so a number rings wherever it should regardless of which physical site answers it, and adding a new location is a configuration change, not new hardware everywhere.
ILUX designs, ports numbers into and manages the hosted system across the estate, alongside the connectivity it runs over.
What's included
- Hosted VoIP platform covering every site under one system
- Number porting from existing providers with no change to the number customers dial
- Call routing rules so calls reach the right site, department or central helpdesk
- Desk handsets, cordless handsets or softphones on laptops and mobiles, by site need
- Call reporting and monitoring across the estate
- Managed as part of the same contract as the underlying connectivity
Because VoIP runs over an internet connection rather than a phone line, it depends on the site's connectivity being reliable — see multi-site connectivity for how that's managed alongside it.
A phone system is only as good as the line it runs on.
See how broadband and backup connectivity are matched to each site to keep the phone system up alongside everything else.
The PSTN switch-off
The old analogue phone network is being withdrawn, known as the PSTN switch-off. Any site still on a traditional line or an older phone system tied to it needs moving to VoIP before that happens, and it's usually the trigger that brings a multi-site phone estate onto one hosted system for the first time.
Common questions.
Can we keep our existing phone numbers?
Yes. Numbers are ported into the hosted system, so customers dial the same number they always have.
Can calls to a closed site be redirected automatically?
Yes, routing rules can send calls to another site, a central helpdesk, or a mobile, based on time of day or site status.
Do we need new handsets?
Not necessarily. Existing compatible handsets can often be reused, and softphones on a laptop or mobile cover sites that don't need a desk handset.
What happens if our site's internet connection goes down?
VoIP depends on connectivity, so sites where phone uptime matters are usually paired with backup connectivity — see multi-site connectivity.
